"February 2, 2006 was the day our lives were forever changed. It was the day I was expecting to find out my little girl had a compression fracture on her spine, but instead learned devastating news. At the tender age of 5, my beautiful, blonde-haired, blue eyed, loving, energetic, spirited baby girl was diagnosed with cancer." -mother of Savannah Swandal

She is still battling cancer now years later and is currently still undergoing chemo treatments as she fights cancer--Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma--for the third time.

Owen's Story

Owen

On March 18, 2010, Owen went to the doctor for a simple cough.  He had no fever and was not acting sick.  The pediatrician ordered a chest x-ray to look for pneumonia.  When the xray came back, she knew something was irregular and sent us immediately to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.  After leaving our 12 week old with my parents, we came to Vandy and within hours were told there was a large mass that was most likely cancer.  The tumor is located in the chest cavity near the heart and lungs.  They said it is the size of a cantaloupe. The cough is due to compression on the lung and air passages.  After a biopsy, the doctors are now fairly certain that Owen has what is called T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma
